Wolves finish ninth in ECCC Invitational

The Co-Lin golf team finished a disappointing ninth at the East Central Community College Invitational held at the Dancing Rabbit Country Club in Philadelphia.

The Wolves began the day in eighth place only 10 shots behind fourth place Hinds, but the course would get the better of the Wolves. First round leader Mississippi Gulf Coast ran away with the team title finishing 43 shots (568) ahead of second place Hinds at 611. Northeast Mississippi finished third at 614 followed by Meridian at 615, Pearl River at 623, East Central at 624, Jones College at 632 and East Mississippi at 635. Co-Lin finished ninth at 637 followed by Itawamba at 642 and Southwest at 684.

The bright spot for the Wolves was the play of sophomore Navid Mousavi (Castellon, Spain). Mousavi fired a two-under 70 in the final round to take sixth place at 145 (75-70). Alex Navarro (Valencia, Spain) fired a 161 (78-83) followed by Myles Walters at 162 (80-82), Chandler Byrd at 169 (85-84) and Reese McLaurin at 175 (90-85).

The Wolves return to action on March 26-27 in the Meridian Invitational at  Northwood Country Club.
