What background was most represented in Pearl Public School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 47.4% of the 4,071 students enrolled in Pearl Public School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.8% decrease from the previous school year.

Pearl High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,210 students.

A snapshot of Pearl Public School District schools showed 47.4% of students were white, 37.7% were Black, 7.4% were Hispanic, 5.9% were multiracial, and 0.4% Asian.

Pearl Public School District roughly covers five schools within Rankin County and has a main office in Pearl.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
