Black had the largest percent of student body in Forest Municipal School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 43.6% of the 1,654 students enrolled in Forest Municipal School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 0.6% increase over the previous school year.

Forest Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 693 students.

A snapshot of Forest Municipal School District schools showed 43.6% of students were Black, 41.2% were Hispanic, 9.8% were white, and 4.5% multiracial.

Forest Municipal School District roughly covers three schools within Scott County and has a main office in Forest.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
