Join children and families from our community and across America in the 100 Days of Reading Challenge! Did you know that without daily reading practice, children can lose up to three months of literacy skills over the summer? But there’s good news! Reading at least 20 minutes a day can significantly boost vocabulary and prevent learning loss! To keep children learning this summer, MCLS is hosting a reading challenge. We challenge you to read at least 20 minutes every day, from June 1 through September 8 (World Literacy Day)!
Here’s how to participate:
- Read a book, magazine, graphic novel, or whatever you like for at least 20 minutes every day
- Keep track of how much time you spend reading each day in your reading log – you can read on your own, to someone, or with someone
- When your reading log is full, turn it in for a new log
- Return your treasure map July 18-29 for a brand NEW book while supplies last. After that, we will continue to accept them but the book selection will be smaller
