The Madison County Board of Supervisors Meeting, May 16, 2022: Quick Notes
The Madison County Board of Supervisors, (the Board), recognized two students who were awarded competitive scholarships to assist with their education. Asja Griffin will attend Holmes Community College and William Nisbett will attend Mississippi State University. Scholarships were provided by the MS Supervisors Insurance Trust and MS Public Entity Worker’s Compensation Insurance Trust.
• Recently Madison County was awarded more than $20mm for the Watershed project through a grant from the federal government. Today, the Board authorized the County Administrator to assemble the remaining information needed to receive the funds.
• The Board authorized the County Attorney, the County Administrator and Waggoner Engineering to negotiate a contract with Comcast for broadband expansion in areas of the County with no or limited access to broadband services.
• The Board approved the final plat of Avondale Estates. The development contains 12 lots on 23.4 acres.
• The Board approved Milltown Place, Phase I.
• The Board approved Millbridge of Caroline, which is between Bridgewater Drive and Pembroke Circle.
• The Board acknowledged a request from the Camden Fire Protection District for a millage increase. The Board will advertise the intent for increasing the millage at a later date.
• The Board of Supervisors entered a Memorandum of Understanding with the West Madison Utility District due to the funds that are going to be realized through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Madison County Board of Supervisors will meet again Monday, June 6, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in the Administrative Building in Canton.
