Tuesday, April 5th 2022 at 8:23pm, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the driver of an 18 wheeler advising that the truck had hit something in the roadway. The driver was traveling southbound on U.S. Hwy 49 just south of Magee. Deputies arrived and soon discovered that the 18 wheeler had struck a child. The child was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner. Both Magee Police and Fire Depts. were dispatched to help with the scene. The Mississippi Highway Patrol worked the crash and will be investigating this incident.
