Rankin County reports unofficial results for March 10 federal primary election

Rankin County officials released on Mar. 11 the unofficial results of the federal primary election held on March 10, with all 46 precincts reporting.

The report shows that out of 98,483 registered voters in Rankin County, 15,137 cast ballots in the primary, representing a turnout rate of 15.37 percent.

In the Democratic primary for United States Senate, Scott Colom received the most votes with a total of 2,886 (75.16 percent), followed by Priscilla W. Till with 724 votes (18.85 percent) and Albert R. Littell with 230 votes (5.99 percent). For the Democratic nomination in the U.S. House of Representatives for the third congressional district, Michael A. Chiaradio ran unopposed and received all 3,416 votes cast.

On the Republican side for United States Senate, Cindy Hyde-Smith led with a total of 8,591 votes (76.84 percent), while Sarah Adlakha received 2,589 votes (23.16 percent). In the Republican race for U.S. House of Representatives in the third congressional district, Michael Guest was also unopposed and secured all 10,291 votes cast.

The results are unofficial and reflect only those ballots counted as of the reporting time.
