The Rankin County Board of Supervisors has announced a 30-day ban on outdoor burning, effective immediately. The decision was made in partnership with the Mississippi Forestry Commission due to recent dry weather, low humidity, and high winds. The burn ban is set to last until April 2, 2026, unless weather conditions improve before that date.

The restrictions apply to all outdoor burning activities across the county, including those related to agriculture and commercial operations. However, the ban does not affect actions carried out by the Mississippi Forestry Commission, Rankin County Fire Services, or certified burn managers.
