Rankin County will hold its annual Spring Cleanup for residents from April 11 to May 16, according to a March 17 announcement. The event is open only to Rankin County residents and aims to provide an opportunity for the community to dispose of bulky items and certain types of waste at designated drop-off sites.

The cleanup initiative allows residents to bring bulky items, white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, and appliances, and up to four waste tires per person. However, household garbage, batteries or acid, flammable products, limbs or debris, and hazardous waste will not be accepted during this period. The county notes that a separate Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held in May 2025.

Drop-off sites will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Each district has specific dates and locations for collection: District 1 (April 11–18) at the Old Unit Barn in Florence; District 2 (April 18–25) at Station 1 on Spillway Road; District 3 (April 25–May 2) at Robinhood Game Room and Puckett Park; District 4 (May 2–9) at the Old Unit Barn in Pelahatchie and Pisgah-Sandhill Library; District 5 (May 4–16) at Pearl Recycle Center. Sites may close early if dumpsters become full.

Residents are also encouraged to take recyclables to the facility at 479 Eastmark Drive from Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. For questions about the program or site operations, individuals can contact the Rankin County Board of Supervisors Office or the Road Department by phone.

The Spring Cleanup provides an organized way for Rankin County residents to manage large item disposal while keeping neighborhoods clean. The county’s ongoing efforts include planning ahead for hazardous waste collection next year.
