PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

The Leake County Sheriff’s Office would like to give a few brief tips that would help improve the probability of locating your property if you are ever the victim of property theft.

On any item of property that would posses a serial number or VIN have that number recorded somewhere in a place that you can find it.

On any property that may not posses a serial number or VIN, place a self identifying mark somewhere on the item that only you would know of. This mark should be in a place that is not obvious to a possible thief.  Your initials, phone number, etc..

Also, have a picture of the item that you can share with Law Enforcement in the event that you are victimized.

Stolen property can be very difficult to recover. With out any identifiable features, serial/VIN numbers, personal markings, it makes it almost impossible.  We want to help you find your property. By utilizing these simple tips, it will increase our odds and ability to locate any stolen property.

Thank you!
