Congressman Michael Guest, who represents Mississippi’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted local veterans and a Mississippi-based defense company in a series of posts on social media.
On November 11, 2025, Guest shared his meeting with a World War II veteran: “I was honored to meet “Billy” Byrd, a World War II veteran who served in the U. S. Marines. He was in the first wave that landed on Iwo Jima in February of 1945. Billy fought for 32 days defeating the Japanese. Billy, thank you for your sacrifice for our freedom.”
Two days later, on November 13, he recognized another veteran at a local event: “Yesterday, Brady Stewart attended the city of Ridgeland’s Veterans Day event and met with Alderman D.I. Smith. Alderman Smith is a 30-year veteran who served in the United States Army. Thank you, D.I., for your service to our nation.”
Later that same day, Guest acknowledged a Mississippi business: “I am honored to see Camgian, headquartered in Starkville, named the 2025 Mississippi Aerospace and Defense Company of the Year.”
Guest has represented Mississippi’s 3rd District since replacing Gregg Harper in 2019 and currently resides in Brandon after being born in Woodbury, New Jersey in 1970. He holds degrees from Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi.
