Congressman Michael Guest, who represents Mississippi’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his social media accounts between March 12 and March 13, 2026, highlighting local community achievements and expressing concerns about national policy.
On March 12, Guest expressed appreciation for veterans and their advocates in Mississippi. He wrote, “I enjoy every opportunity to meet some of our nation’s veterans. I am grateful for the American Legion Department of Mississippi and its tireless advocacy for our men and women who have served. I am also grateful for their investment in the next generation of young men and women” (March 12, 2026).
Later that day, Guest acknowledged Star, Mississippi’s new status as an officially recognized town. In his post he stated, “We are all familiar with Star, Mississippi, but I know the people of Star are especially excited to officially be recognized as Mississippi’s newest town. I look forward to working alongside the community as it continues to grow and thrive. Star is a special place with a proud” (March 12, 2026).
On March 13, Guest turned his attention to federal matters regarding government funding. He called on Democrats to take action on a government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security: “Democrats must end the Department of Homeland Security government shutdown. It’s time to fully fund the DHS and pay TSA.” (March 13, 2026).
Michael Guest has represented Mississippi’s 3rd District since replacing Gregg Harper in Congress in 2019. Born in Woodbury, New Jersey in 1970, Guest currently resides in Brandon at age 53. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 before earning a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi two years later.
