Congressman Michael Guest, who represents Mississippi’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account this week addressing issues ranging from local tragedy to national policy debates.
On November 3, Guest called for support and prayers following the death of a law enforcement officer in Jackson. He wrote, “Join Haley and me in prayer for the family of Sergeant James Dotson who was shot and killed this weekend in Jackson. May God place a hedge of protection around the men and women of law enforcement who protect and serve the people of our state.”
Turning to federal politics on November 5, Guest criticized the Democratic Party’s fiscal approach and referenced Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. In his post, he stated, “The Democratic Party believes that you should keep less of your hard-earned money and that Washington should decide how your money should be spent. Instead of working for the American people, they are working to save Chuck Schumer from a Democratic primary opponent next election”.
Later that same day, Guest highlighted his legislative work as a co-sponsor of health care legislation. He said, “I am a proud co-sponsor the CONNECT for Health Act. Read more about how this bill will impact our local communities and improve health care in Mississippi.”
Guest has represented Mississippi’s 3rd District since 2019 after succeeding Gregg Harper. Born in Woodbury, New Jersey in 1970, Guest is currently 53 years old and resides in Brandon. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi two years later.
